In 1969, TAG Heuer released the first automatic chronograph, and broke with tradition by creating the first square waterproof case to house it. The Monaco became an instant icon on the wrist of Hollywood legend Steve McQueen in the 1970 film, Le Mans.

This special edition is issued with the crown at the nine o'clock position, as per the original piece worn by Steve McQueen whilst filming and racing at Le Mans. The actor and racing driver wore a Heuer Monaco on his wrist whilst driving a Porsche 917 carrying the famous blue & orange colours. Complete in Gulf racing stripes branded presentation case.
