The Patron Saint of Travellers.

Legend has it that the wearing of a St Christopher necklace or the carrying of a St Christopher charm protects the traveller.

Story has it that there was a man who was over 7 feet tall who wanted to serve the greatest King there was, so sought out God. Due to his height he decided he would best serve the Lord by helping people to cross a river. A young child that needed to cross was carried across the river on his shoulders. The river became deep and fast, and the child felt heavier and heavier; the man really struggled. When he reached the other side he said to the child that it felt like “He had the world on his shoulders”, to which the child replied that “not only did he carry the whole world but the Son of the maker of the whole world” as the child was Christ, son of God. From that day forth he became known as Saint Christopher, Patron Saint of Travellers.

This pendant is double-sided, depicting the traditional image of St Christopher on one side, with his staff in his right hand and child on his shoulders, and on the reverse is a motif of an aeroplane, a train, a car, and a ship - the most popular methods of transport.
