In Greek, amethyst means “not drunken”. Ancient Greeks and Romans believed this gemstone could ward off the intoxicating powers of Bacchus and keep the wearer clear-headed and quick-witted. They would even add these crystals to their wine goblets in an attempt to keep from getting drunk!
An oval cut amethyst sits in the centre of this stunning dress ring. Its rich, deep purple is beautifully contrasted by the dazzle of the bright two row cluster of round diamonds. All the stones are defined within a beaded concave octagonal framework of 9ct yellow gold. The diamonds continue beyond the cluster as they cascade down the shoulders of the ring.
