Description

Diamonds have a long history as beautiful objects of desire.

Formed deep in the earth under extreme heat and pressure, diamonds are ejected violently upward until they arrive at or near the earth’s surface when they are forced from their hiding place by nature or by man. They are then cleaved and cut and polished by experts until the potential of their natural beauty shines through.

The Pear Cut is one of the oldest diamond cuts and its origins can be traced back to 15th century Belgium. Closely tied to the development of diamond polishing, it was created in the 1400s by Flemish cutter Lodewyk van Berquem of Bruges, inventor of the diamond-polishing wheel, or scaif.

A central pear shaped diamond is surrounded by a halo of 16 diamonds which also cascade along the shoulders of the ring.
