Peridot, the birthstone for August, is seen as a gem of good health, healing and compassion. Ancient Egyptians called peridot the "gem of the sun", believing it protected its wearer from terrors of the night: Cleopatra loved it for its beauty also. Whilst ancient Hawaiian folklore told stories of the gems being tears from the goddess of elements, Pele.

The warm yellow of the gold claws beautifully complements the vibrant green of the peridot held within. The pendant glides effortlessly along an 18" fine chain (not illustrated) for a sleek and classic look.
