Comitti of London
Comitti of London have been makers of the finest quality clocks and
barometers for over 150 years. Many of the styles
made in the early days continue to be available today, they are recognised
as English classics and sought after as valuable antiques.
The company continues to this day as a family-run business designing
and making traditional and contemporary pieces. Today Comitti enjoys
an international reputation for outstanding workmanship and service.
We carry a wide and varied selection of mantel,
table, wall and Grandfather clocks in stock. We offer expert guidance
and assistance in helping our customers choose just the right piece for
them and their needs.
Aneroid Barometers
Invented by Lucien Vidie as a more portable instrument than the
mercury barometer, which had existed since the 17th century, the
aneroid barometer was patented in London in 1844. Comitti have
made these instruments since 1850.
Mantel & Table Clocks
The introduction of springs and greater precision in the making of clock mechanisms
made it possible for clockmakers to make smaller more portable timepieces for
the home. To mark the passing of time chimes were introduced in the 19th century.
We have a selection of movements available from precision quartz pieces to key
wound mechanical strike and/or chime options.
Wall Clocks
The first “Regulator” wall clocks were developed in Vienna
in the 19th Century as master timepieces to check
the accuracy of other clocks. Their precision
was the product of the highest standards of workmanship
that continues to be celebrated to this day.
All of our wall clocks are driven by key wound
mechanical movements.
